Conference Information:

The Learning from COVID 19 Experiences Conference is an essential component of The Learning from COVID 19 Project which will include a conference, a virtual art exhibit, and local art installations and engagement events in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, and Samara and Volgograd Russian Federation. The conference is being organized by the Florida State University Art Therapy Program and the Department of Art Education in collaboration the Russian partner organizations: National Association for the Development of Science and Practice, “Art Therapy Association;“ The Professional Plus Training Center; Alla Streltosova’s Private Training and Counseling Center; The International School of Art Therapy; and Igor Burganov Academy of Arts. The conference will be made available to presenters and attendees at no cost but will require reservation for access to the conference program and related activities. Translation services for English or Russian will be provided for submission materials and presentation support.

The conference will support these established project goals:

  • Cultivate exchanges among mental health professionals and art therapists in US and Russia to support development of best creative practices that will reduce pandemic distress and promote resilience of youth and families 
  • Generate exchanges among art therapists regarding increasing youth and family access to mental health services through the ethical and effective facilitation of telehealth art therapy interventions
  • Demonstrate creative processes employed by art therapists to reduce distress and cultivate personal resilience during pandemic times 
  • Foster connections among Russian and US art therapists for ongoing collaborative work related to art therapy and mental health for youth and families 
  • Demonstrate how community-based exhibits and art engagement programs can be designed and implemented to simultaneously acknowledge pandemic related distress and support youth and family resilience

 

We are seeking proposals for:

  • 50-minute paper presentations on art therapy approaches and practices that have been effectively utilized to support youth and family resilience during the time of the pandemic and transitions to pandemic recovery Submission of research paper proposals on the project topic is encouraged
  • 75-minute workshop-webinars that will describe a program that supported youth and/or families during the time of the pandemic and demonstrate an art process that was utilized in that program

We will encourage all selected presenters to engage in some of the Networking events that are offered as a part of the Learning from the COVID 19 Experiences Conference.

 

Presenter Eligibility: 

  • You must be a Master’s level or above professional art therapist (USA) or a related mental health professional with art therapy specialization (Russian Federation)

 

You are NOT eligible to submit a proposal to the conference:

  • If you are an employee of the Russian Government including state affiliated educational institutions, medical, or mental health care institutions

 

Submission Requirements:

Presenters are required to provide the following information: 

  • Presenter Information (Full Name; professional occupation; professional credentials, if applicable; institutional affiliation/work setting; preferred email address) 
  • Brief Bio (Maximum 100 words) 
  • Title of Session (Maximum 12 words)
  • Keywords
  • Brief Summary of Session for Program Materials (50 words)
  • Description of Session (maximum 500 words) 
  • Reference in APA 7th Style
  • Presentations will be reviewed and selected by an international team of reviewers
